A New Kind of Ink

During a regular show that we have been attending over the past few years we had began to hear rumours of a new kind of ink in a certain brand of compatible cartridges which were supplied in green and white boxes. Over recent weeks the rumours have turned into a flood of new information claiming that this new brand of cartridge had ink made in the USA inside the cartridges and therefore they were wonderful on so many counts!

To us we felt that this meant a new breed of compatible cartridges had arrived with archival (no Fade) ink, colour matched to originals and with a superior colour gamut enabling print house proofing quality. After testing we found that none of this was in fact correct. Just another company mis-selling a product.

What they actually meant to say is that the ink was formulated in the USA and produced to a translated specification in China and then filled into compatible cartridges and that the ink is the same as is filled into most compatible cartridges on the market. What it is not is archival, colour matched and it does not have a superior colour gamut.

Kinda like the difference between a UK Mars bar and a USA Mars bar, try one of each and you will understand.

The good news is that Clean print is about to launch a limited range of third party cartridges with archival (no Fade) ink, colour matched to originals and with a superior colour gamut enabling print house proofing quality. Limited in terms of the number of printers that our range will initially cover.

We will keep you posted on this.
